Camp Liberty

Camp Liberty

Experience Authentic Patrol Cooking

Camp Liberty is one of the few remaining full patrol cooking camps in the United States, offering Scouts the unique opportunity to pick up their food each day from the camp commissary and prepare it themselves in their campsite throughout the week. This hands-on patrol cooking format brings the patrol method to life, fostering teamwork and leadership in ways that other camp experiences simply can’t match. Located on a beautiful peninsula jutting out into Lake Courage, Camp Liberty is where Scouts BSA truly embrace the spirit of self-sufficiency and collaboration. The experience of working together to prepare meals helps reinforce leadership skills, making it a standout program at Heritage Reservation.

In addition to patrol cooking, Camp Liberty offers a diverse range of activities, including over 50 merit badge offerings, a dedicated first-year camper program, and the Day Trek older Scout adventure program, designed for those looking for more challenge and excitement. With all these opportunities, it’s easy to see why thousands of Scouts return to Camp Liberty year after year, calling it their "home away from home." Units that attend Camp Liberty find themselves with more downtime to relax and engage in other activities, not bound by the typical dining hall schedule, and many return because of the unforgettable experiences and strong camaraderie built at camp.
